The Maru Wakizashi was usually worn together with the katana by the swordmen of feudal japan. When the maru wakizasi accompanies a maru katana, the pair is called daisho. The wakizasi was a sidearm kept by a samurai at all times-at his bedside and in places where katana were prohibited.
