A wakizashi is a traditional Japanese sword with a sh??blade between12 and 24 inches, similar to but shorter than a katana and sometimes longer than the kodachi. The wakizashi was usually worn together with the katana by the samurai or swordsmen of feudal Japan. When worn together the pair of swords were called daish? which translates literally as "large and small"; dai or large for katana, and sh?for wakizashi. The katana was often called the sword or the long sword and the wakizashi the companion sword. E-mudo chikurin katana has high quality hand-forged folded. The temper line is evident and prominent and the sugaha "straight" pattern shows distinct layers. High quality ray skin(same) is used on the tsuka, and the tsuka-ito and sageo on all three pieces are woven from premium Japanese silk. The tsuka of E-mudo Chikurin Maru wakizasi is of blackened iron with a historial chikurin, bamboo leaf, motif in brass and copper.
